October Goals Wrap-Up

I am once again not please with the results of my monthly goals.  It looks like I'm at less than 30%!  That's not good!  1. Work out at the gym...it WILL happen someday. -Not only did it not happen it looks like I will have to find another way to work out because I will not be getting access to the DSW gym any longer.  2. Get 500 followers on  Twitter ...I'm SOOO close   SUCCESS!!! 3. Complete my latest craft project -Also complete, but I'm not sure I'm happy with it.   4. Clear out my garden plot -Done, the only thing left is a cabbage plant since they don't mind the cold.   5. Set-up an online photography portfolio (I have a Flickr; does anyone have any recommendations they like better?) -I didn't work on this...did anyone have any feedback on whether they would pick something over Flickr? 6. Continue blogging at least once/week -I missed the 3rd week of October, but other than that I did pretty good.   7. Pick my kni...

September Wrap-up

I'm not very proud of myself this month. I feel pretty wimpy when it comes to the goal achieving. 1. Go to the gym AND work out -I did not do this...I'm defending myself by saying that I was sick for most of the month.   2. Start practicing my translations again (special thanks to Josh for getting me a bunch of great books in French for our anniversary) -I have no defense *hangs head in shame* 3. Finish 2 books (one self-help book and one for pleasure) -I read "V for Vendetta" which I'm not sure counts because its more of a graphic novel and I STARTED a self-help book and ordered myself one.   4. Reach 500 followers on Twitter -still not there :( But we're working on it.   5.  Blog once/week -My one success... Hopefully we can do better in October.

September Goals

Now that we've got August out of the way. Let's get back down to business and get some goals reached! 1. Go to the gym AND work out (this seems silly...but given the last time I felt it needed to be said) 2. Start practicing my translations again (special thanks to Josh for getting me a bunch of great books in French for our anniversary) 3. Finish 2 books (one self-help book and one for pleasure) 4. Reach 500 followers on Twitter...I WILL get there!  5.  Blog once/week Happy Holiday Weekend!

August Goals Wrap-up

I really have no excuse for my lack of posting...I mean I'm a busy person but I miss doing this all the time so much...I vow to be better! Here's the re-cap of this month's goals: 1. Go to the gym (I will do this someday!) -Funny story...I went to the gym, stripped in the locker room, only to discover I didn't have shorts with me...FAIL   2. Read (or at least start depending on how bad it is)  50 Shades of Grey.   Completed!  It  really is more of a romance novel that the BDSM-ness that I expected.  But I read all 3...and now I'm halfway through Pride and Prejudice!  3. Get my professional manicure -CHECK!  I cashed in my groupon and got it last week (and my nails are already so chipped they need repainted...no wonder its addicting!) 4. Reach my 500 Twitter followers goal (I'm so close!) -I'm still 50 away!  Why is this so hard!? 5. Rearrange the spare bedroom- I started this but its not really completed.  I moved the be...

August Goals

1. Go to the gym (I will do this someday!) 2. Read (or at least start depending on how bad it is)  50 Shades of Grey.   I picked it up from the library today! 3. Get my professional manicure 4. Reach my 500 Twitter followers goal (I'm so close!) 5. Rearrange the spare bedroom  As you can see I'm really trying to focus on my 101 in 1001 .  I feel like I've neglected it.  So I'm trying to get a move on!  I have just over a year left!

The KIND Project.

The past few weeks I have been less than social-and I haven't exactly been a nice person. I got angry with my friends for being selfish and self-centered and then I realized that I was getting back from my friends the same thing that I had been dishing out lately.   We live in a world that is all about ourselves.  We use Facebook to post about our lives, we post on Twitter play-by-plays of our every moment.  And I feel that this has made us forget about being good to one another.  There are tons of different projects out there that illustrate my vision of the emphasis on kindness that I feel that I have lost.   Random Acts of Kindness , The Kindness Project , The Human Kindness Project,   etc.    But I feel that I want to emphasize something a little different so I'm going to call my "The Kind Project".  KIND ="Kindness (in) Individuals (is) Necessary Daily.   My May goal and daily assignment is to do at least ...

Civilization's Decline

I just read this article I found on Twitter (read it here ).  It's from the Harvard Business Blog and Mr. Tom Davenport's headline reads "Are Social Media Contributing to the Decline of Civilization?" He says yes...a part of me agreed with this article and continued reading.   Mr. Davenport's main argument: a new celebrity gossip (read stalking) website called OMGICU.  He continues to say that our society has now become vapid and obsessed with celebrities and popularity and are using social media to feed this addiction.  While I agree that there are website like this (and yes the thought of them makes me shudder on the inside too) but this is not what social media is about.   I do not follow Paris Hilton or Tila Tequila on my Twitter page (I'm not even friends with them on facebook) and I still use social media daily and love it.  On Twitter I exchange information and articles (currently they are predominantly about searching and finding a...

When Twitter stopped Tweeting.

So there was a Twitter blackout yesterday. For those of you who don't know what Twitter is its a social media that allows people to "tweet" 140 character messages that people who "follow" them can read. It is essentially micro-blogging that allows you to update your followers on what you're doing at any given moment in time. Twitter blacked out yesterday, and the social media world FREAKED OUT! Ok, I have a Twitter, and a facebook. And I love them (especially facebook as ashamed as I am to admit that) but I did NOT "feel naked" or "disconnected" or "Lost in the world" because Twitter was blacked out and facebook was having so many glitches it wasn't worth using for several hours until they sorted things out. I was fine, I turned facebook off, stopped sending stupid bumper stickers and "creeping" on people and went over to my friend Andrew's house where we listened to a favorite CD of mine (I'd for...
