Books to Read

I was checking out my 101 in 1001 the other day and I realized that I never created my "Books to Read" list like I had mentioned. I had one on my previous blog but it never got updated to this one so here is the list as it currently stands that are in need of reading whether they've been read before or not: 1. "Song of Ice & Fire" Series by George R.R.  Martin Book 1: A Game of Thrones Book 2: A Clash of Kings Book 3: A Storm of Swords Book 4: A Feast of Crows Book 5: A Dance with Dragons Book 6: The Winds of Winter Book 7: A Dream of Spring 2. Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James 3. Every Novel by Jane Austen Sense and Sensibility Pride and Prejudice Mansfield Park Emma Northanger Abbey Persuasion 4. Dante's The Divine Comedy 5. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte 6. L'Etranger by Albert Camus 7. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens 8. Homer's Iliad & Odyssey 9. Nineteen-Eighty four by George Orwell 10. The Catcher in the Rye

I LOVE Gardening

Check out some of the great things that have been growing in my garden! I have pretty much seen nothing but these daylilies all summer...they're EVERYWHERE in my garden plot.  I left them because I didn't have it in my heart to pull flowers out...and they've taken over!  And then I was pleasantly surprised when these started to bloom:  6 feet tall and more of a coral color than is really shown in the photograph and most importantly, seemingly unbothered by the construction and moving of the waterline and beds right on the other side of the fence.   And then there's the world's most excited pepper plant: Yes, you're seeing that right...there are 4 peppers on that plant!  The other one barely has a little nub of a pepper on it and this one is about to be so loaded it can't hold them all!  I'm just hoping that these peppers start turning (they're supposed to be chocolate) soon...we've had some varmints getting into

Do or Don't Do: See before "I Do"

Calling all brides, grooms, future brides, and wanna-be brides. I want your take on this: via www.freedigitalphotos.net I recently read a very interesting article I saw on Pinterest from "The Things We Would Blog"   that was all about reasons why you should see your other half before the wedding and do your photos beforehand.  As a die-hard traditionalist I was immediately like "how could this crazy woman say this?!" but as I'm reading the article and seeing the photographs of just the bride and groom togther it got me thinking that maybe she has a great point.  You can read her article for her complete reasons  but what really got me was the idea that you can't process your normal day without your other half...why would you try to process the biggest day of your life without seeing them first?  Not to mention getting all the photos out of the way so you can go straight to the PARTY! Which is after all the most important part.  So what are

DIY Color Block Flats

After my adventure in DIY flats earlier I was determined to make a pair that would not fall apart. And I think I've succeeded this time. I decided to do a color block since that's such a huge trend right now.  You can also see another bit of inspiration for the cap toe look at Refinery29 who put these up on Pinterest the same day I did mine!  Great minds think alike!   Look how adorable these babies turned out!  And they're so simple! Just tape off and spray! And of course don't forget the clear coat  to seal it!  And done!  What do you think?

June Goals

Clearly I spoke too soon with my May goals, as soon as I wrote about how well I was doing blogging nearly everyday...I stopped. So I think this month I'll try not to count my goals until the end of the month, lol. 1. Find new bank (long store short I became very unhappy after I tried to clear up a problem with my current bank and they just tried to sign me up for a credit card instead...so suggestions are welcome) 2. Go to the gym 3 times...I swear I'm going to find where the company gym is again! 3. Finish putting away winter clothes-this has been a slow and tedious process...I need to just do it so I can stop having a whole year's worth of clothes strewn about my bedroom floor. 4. Blog Once/week. Anyone else have any goals they think I should tackle, another one on my back burner is to start working more on my 101 in 1001 things that I haven't really been focusing on...its been sad and lonely lately!
