May Goals Recap

May goals:  1. The KIND Project-one kindness everyday.  2. Word Count Blog-a-thon 3. Plant seedlings in garden plot 4. Take the "pump" test at work to get upgraded to CSR Level 2 Recap:  1. I think so far I've done pretty well.  I don't think I've written about a KIND-ness everyday but I feel like I've been making a point to do things for people and make the world a better place, so we're going to call that a win.   2. I have not blogged everyday, but considering how much is going on, I think only missing a few days is pretty impressive, I really only forgot one day, the other days I just didn't have access to blog-ness 3. I finished the last of my planting yesterday...hopefully my garden yields lots of deliciousness! 4. I took the pump test about two weeks ago and I should have the results hopefully tomorrow!

Lonely Again

My temporary roommate has left me. She is spending her last week without her own apartment at her boyfriend's and then she is moving into her new place in June. On top of that she and I just spent the evening in Easton shopping because she got a big girl job! I'm so excited for her! So many exciting things are happening right now. I have at least 3 weddings to go to this summer/fall...I just got these ADORABLE Save the Dates in the mail!

Weekend Update

I had a great weekend. It was super busy, I went garage sale-ing, celebrated a bachelorette party (after getting lost on the way there), watched my best friend/boyfriend graduate from law school (kind of a big deal), and now I'm exhausted! Look out to hear about the great finds I made...in the meantime I think its time to relax!

New shoes.

Today I channeled my inner Kellie Pickler. Today's KIND-ness To thank one of my coworkers for swapping shifts with me I left her a note...with one of those immensely delicious Ferraro Roche chocolates to go with it!

Sad day.

So I think my glitter flats are not going to make it. Even with some extra sealant the layer of glitter that I put on them is slowly peeling off from the bottom up. So unfortunately they're not going to make it. But stay tuned...I have a plan to revamp another pair of flats! Today's KIND-ness Today I did my monitored calls at Suicide Prevention Services and talked to 3 different people and I really felt like I made a difference.  I love volunteering!

Hidden Talents

I was just talking to my "roomie" about people's hidden talents earlier. You know, those skills you have that no one would expect from you. Like Josh for instance, he tells me he is an excellent caulk-er.  His dad does insulation and when he goes along he obviously helps cultivating some hidden talents.   Here's a picture of the hidden talent I practiced today!  I love to arrange flowers.  Granted, arranging these flowers wasn't much of a process but I love doing it for pretty much all flowers.  I filled every vase in my parent's house over Easter just from wildflowers I'd found!  I guess this comes from my love of plants!  Today's KIND-ness I made sure to pick a few extra roses (I also did a little vase of roses as well as the peonies) to put in a little vase next to my roomie's bed.  She's only staying a few weeks so she hasn't really decorated her space, so I thought something to make it feel pretty would be nice

Silly things that make me :-)

Here are a few random things that make me smile, even when everyone thinks they are silly. 1. The fact that my "roomie" and I fixed the internet ourselves this morning...no boy assistance necessary. (which is why I couldn't post yesterday...b/c it took us till this morning to figure it out and my mobile blogging doesn't work) 2. Getting an excellent parking spot at work.  3. My "roomie" making me coffee before work.  4. Plants.  5. How funny my cat is when she chases her laser pointer.  Today's KIND-ness This probably is a tomorrow thing because she hasn't seen it...but I did it today. I left my "roomie" aka the girl I work with who's staying with me until her apartment is ready, a love note on her desk.

DIY Glitter Flats

I was inspired by a pin a user posted from We Are Not Martha  (a great crafty site by the way) I found to revamp some really pathetic looking flats that were falling apart to try and create my own glitter flats. Here are the before photos of the world's saddest-looking flats So I pulled out some old silver glitter I had from my RA door-dec making days, bought a new jar of Mod Podge and started glittering!  Below is the picture after adding the first coat of Mod Podge and glitter.  Crafter's tip: mix the mod podge and glitter together before applying to the flats-that will keep you from leaving a trail of glitter behind you when you walk.  After applying enough coats of glitter to ensure that all the turquoise color was covered I went ahead and applied two extra coats of Mod Podge to seal any stray glitter pieces that think they can escape me!  Last coat of Mod Podge! And then I slipped them on to wear to Katie's Graduation today!

Graduation Season

It has started! Tomorrow I'm going to Josh's sister's graduation and then next weekend Josh is graduating! And just think its been 3 years since I graduated! I can't believe how old I'm getting!  And Josh is graduating from law school, so much has changed in the past few years.  Today's KIND-ness I don't know if this really counts.  But after meeting my temporary roomie's boyfriend I bowed out before I had originally planned because I knew he was only hanging out because we were there even though he didn't feel well.

Today's Adventure

One of my best friends and I went to the Columbus Museum of Art today to see 'The Radical Camera' Exhibit .  It was a great photography exhibit and really inspired me to take out my own 35mm.  So hopefully I'll have some new shots to show you soon!   Today's KIND-ness I paid for her ticket, they were pretty cheap considering, and it certainly made for a great afternoon!

Red Light, Green Light

Tonight is my last night of training with Suicide Prevention Services to become a hotline volunteer! My group and I have decided to go out tonight afterwards and celebrate. The bar we were talking about going to is apparently having a Red Light, Green Light party and of course my only non-Ohio State T-shirt red shirt is dirty...pink is lightish red right? Hope Josh doesn't mind! LOL! Today's KIND-ness I had to move into a new cubicle today and I still don't know the names of 3/4 of the people that sit next to me.  But one of them said she wanted some more ice for her water bottle and I got up and grabbed her some since I was refilling mine.  She was so like "oh, you don't have to, thank you so much" and it was a nice reminder of why doing simple KIND things are so great!  Even to someone who's name I haven't learned yet!

Workin' my life away

I feel like I spend 90% of my life at work, so I've decided that a lot of my KIND-ness should be spent there. Last night I noticed one of my coworkers had to stay late because she was still on a call with a customer. So today I wrote her a "BRAVO" card to tell her how awesome it was that she had the patience to deal with someone that long. Because I think its pretty impressive that she can have that kind of patience with someone. Especially when she's ready to go home and make dinner. In other news today I'm starting a craft project with one of my favorite things...shoes!  So look out for a post about that soon!

Pretty Boring

I feel like my life is pretty boring right now. Just the normal going to work and coming home.  But I did get to go to the Renaissance Faire at Ohio State yesterday and give myself a tour of the new Ohio Union, so at least that was a little bit out of the ordinary.  And then I cashed in my Groupon movie tickets and we went to see the Avengers, which was amazing!  And of course I've been doing kind things!  Today's KIND-ness This morning I drove Brittany across town and dropped her off at the coffee shop where she was meeting the other Renaissance performers.  And then today my friend Brianna moved in to stay with me for the next few weeks.  Yay my first roomie in YEARS!

1 Day Missed

I'm sad that I've already missed a day for Blog-a-thon but I'm telling myself its worth it because I forgot that I hadn't yet because I was doing my KIND-ness. Yesterday's KIND-ness Took Josh out to dinner (his choice) and gave him a neck rub while watching basketball with him to get him relaxed and ready for his last Law School exam ever.  Which I'm sure he did great at.  Now I just have to be twice that relaxing to get him through taking the Bar this summer! Today's KIND-ness Brittany and I shared our food with a random performer at the Renaissance Festival.  He and his performing partner are really funny and we shared a fried mushroom with him for being such a great Pirate.  Now I feel like I need to work twice as hard to keep blogging for the rest of May...wish me luck!

So for those of you who know me you have probably realized that I pretty much completely failed at my April goals. Take the "pump" test at work to get upgraded to CSR Level 2 Today's KIND-ness I sent my sister a Mother's day card.  I know it sounds silly to send one to your sister-but I read this card today and it was too perfect.  So I'm sending it to my sister because I know it will make her day.

The KIND Project.

The past few weeks I have been less than social-and I haven't exactly been a nice person. I got angry with my friends for being selfish and self-centered and then I realized that I was getting back from my friends the same thing that I had been dishing out lately.   We live in a world that is all about ourselves.  We use Facebook to post about our lives, we post on Twitter play-by-plays of our every moment.  And I feel that this has made us forget about being good to one another.  There are tons of different projects out there that illustrate my vision of the emphasis on kindness that I feel that I have lost.   Random Acts of Kindness , The Kindness Project , The Human Kindness Project,   etc.    But I feel that I want to emphasize something a little different so I'm going to call my "The Kind Project".  KIND ="Kindness (in) Individuals (is) Necessary Daily.   My May goal and daily assignment is to do at least one kind thing everyday th
